[Action throughout the day and Open!] Playing in the rain.

Of all the things Eleanor had discovered in Luceti that had been impossible in Rapture, the rain was probably her favorite one. It had taken her some time to adjust to the idea of it, to be fair, since in Rapture the sound of falling water generally meant something horrible had happened and a section of the city about to flood, but up here on the surface it was just...normal.

Weather in-and-of-itself was a new concept, honestly. Occasionally the big storms up on the ocean's surface would cause churn in the water around the city, but never anything more than messy water and unhappy whales. She'd loved the snow too, and bright sunny days and brisk, windy days, but rain was her favorite. Maybe it was just how it was a callback to home without being so close as to make her dwell on the negative things.

Which was why she didn't particularly find any reason to try and avoid it the way so many other people seemed to. In fact, she made a point of going out in weather like that, with the large, old-fashioned purple umbrella she'd acquired last summer. It hadn't rained all winter, which she knew was normal but had still been a bit of a frustration, and now that it was doing it again, she'd practically bolted from school at the end of the day to go for a walk.

And that was where she could be found for the rest of the afternoon, wandering about in her long black skirt and simple red jacket, her umbrella resting on her shoulder, a faint smile on her face. She would stop for a while to sit under one of the awnings by the shops and read, listening to the rain, then head back out for another walk. She'd picked up a pair of heavy-duty boots, and someone might happen to catch her hopping into a puddle with them to send up a splash and then laughing softly to herself.

Even during the height of the thunderstorm itself, she was (probably foolishly) walking around with her umbrella.

[ooc: People can run into Eleanor anywhere in the village during the rain, or yell at her to come in out of the lightning if they like. She might even listen!]

[Zuko had been browsing through the weapons shop when the storm had started to get serious. Now he was leaning against the doorway, arms folded, as he watched the lightning display.

However, when he sees someone actually walking around in this mess, he blinks in surprise before shouting at them.]

Hey, you! Get out of the rain, it's dangerous!

[This emphasized with a bright flash of lightning followed by a loud rumble of thunder.]
lordhotman: (that's how it is yo)

[personal profile] lordhotman 2014-04-03 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. You shouldn't be walking around in a lightning storm. You could get hurt.
lordhotman: (Srs face)

[personal profile] lordhotman 2014-04-03 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
The chances are slim, but lightning can kill you.

[He should know.]

Its something to be respected.
lordhotman: (Wat)

[...]

You're still standing there.
lordhotman: (lets do this)

[personal profile] lordhotman 2014-04-04 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
[He does look appeased well enough.]

You don't have to. Most lightning storms don't last very long, it will probably pass soon.
lordhotman: (huh?)

[personal profile] lordhotman 2014-04-04 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[He's a little surprised by that confession. Most people didn't really like the rain.]

Why?
lordhotman: (Default)

[personal profile] lordhotman 2014-04-04 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[Well to each their own he supposes. He looks back out at the storm as another bolt of lightning flashes. He would agree that its not all bad but...]

The lightning reminds me of my sister.
lordhotman: (contemplative)

[Zuko just sighs and frowns. Apparently its not so good.]

[April showers are perhaps one of Saori's favorite things in any world. An early preview of summer and all the wonderful things that entails, as well as signalling an end to winter and her half-sister's icy grip. Things are different here, of course, as Yukino isn't here to cause her trouble, but the seasons at least are the same. And it's also a welcome reason to leave the house and take a break from her backbreakingly difficult training regime.

It's while she's out enjoying the thunderstorm that she spots Eleanor, hopping around in puddles during the storm. It prompts the weather goddess to call out to her.]

Enjoying the weather?

[Of course, this isn't sarcasm, Saori's voice is genuine, almost painfully so. If someone else is enjoying the weather, then who is she to do anything but encourage it? And if Eleanor looks for the source of the voice, she'll find Saori, dressed in a light blue sundress, completely and totally dry...with no umbrella in sight.]
windandrain: (Relaxed smile)

[Saori claps once, excitedly. This girl is clearly someone with excellent taste.]

Isn't it? I just love the rain, and the lightning and thunder are even better. Nothing like that dreary winter we just had at all.

[Really, truly, there's nothing quite like coming out in the rain, and if Eleanor hasn't commented on something strange, well...she'll just not worry about it. That's part of the fun.]
lordhotman: (worried)

[personal profile] lordhotman 2014-04-04 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
You could say that.

[The understatement of the century more like.]
windandrain: (Bemused)

[personal profile] windandrain 2014-04-05 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Snow...[She makes a face, sticking out her tongue in exaggerated distaste.] My half sister likes that, not me.

[And naturally, Saori giggles at the sudden realization from Eleanor. She looks up at the sky, down at herself, and waves a hand.]

Why...no, I guess I'm not. But then, why should I be?

[Hajime did remember to stay inside when there was lightning, but as soon as that let up he was right back outside to enjoy the weather. He never bothers with an umbrella. Water could never bother him.

He comes across here while he's playing in a puddle.]

Isn't this great?

[Kurt takes a peek out from the item shop at one point to find Eleanor reading under the awning. He's wearing a yellow raincoat, but he's otherwise dry/unprepared; being a teleporter means he can just skip the rainy outdoors. He turns towards her with a smirk.]

Are you... reading in the rain?
