Appointment Post

This post here is for personal conversations which should happen but one or both of us doesn't want to put up a new post/log and thus we will just thread it out here. This can be used to thread with Saleh anytime and anywhere. This can either be in person (with action), or via the journal's call feature (voice and/or written).

[Eleanor hesitates, trying to figure out how to explain what she means...]

Ah. My mother is a...a good example. She is a...terrible person, she does horrible to people. But without her, I'd be a mindless, dangerous, psychotic monster.

I don't particularly like the fact that I needed her, but that doesn't change that I did. And something good still came of her...plans.

Perhaps he thinks the same.

[ Oh... ]

... So your real mom's like that. 'M sorry to hear that.

[ He's not sure where to think from there, but he sounds sincere about it ]

Yeah.

[She draws in a breath.]

Anyway. The point is sometimes...you have to work within the situation you're given, even if it's...bad.

[ He's not sure he agrees. But he's also not sure how much of that is stubbornness. Given she too has an evil parent though, he exhales through his nose and .. ]

What do you think of 'em?

[Eleanor releases his hand and leans back in her seat again, picking up her tea in both hands and sipping it before she answers.]

Honestly? They've mostly left me alone. I mean, aside from dragging me here. So I don't...

I don't think about them much at all.

Seriously?

[ ... That probably came out ruder than he should have said it. But how can someone now think of it... ]

[Eleanor shrugs.]

Why is that surprising? I came from somewhere terrible, and here it's...peaceful. And they leave me alone most of the time.

B...but... they- I mean? They haven't even- like there was- [ Wait no, that thing where they became siblings wasn't their fault, was it? That was something else entirely with the Third Party. And the kidnappings are apparently someone else too. But... ] They've been meesin' with your friends then... and...

Yes, but what they do here is rarely ever as terrible as the things that were done to people...to me in Rapture.

I suppose it is a matter of perspective. But if they're mostly willing to leave me alone, I'm...mostly willing to do the same.

It doesn't matter. [Eleanor shrugs.] The point is, for some people, this place isn't so terrible.

But that doesn't mean you have to accept it, Rin. Just that they have.

[ ... ] But if other people are fine with it, how do I know I'm even lookin' at it right? I might not be knowing somethin' and picking a fight with the wrong people.

[She shakes her head.]

Do what you believe is right, Rin. You're probably correct, anyway, and the rest of us are just too jaded to see it.

[She offers him a little grin with that.]

[ ... Wow. That's not what he was expecting to hear at all. ]

[ How do you respond to that? Happy? Solemn? Sullen? In the end he smiles briefly, that falters, and then he adopts a more sincere look to say:]

[ Big sister. That's still a weird thing to think on. But maybe it fits. He takes a sip of his tea.

But maybe don't get so angry at your friends about it, either way?

It's a better option than sitting here being angry at least, right?
