[Action throughout the day and Open!] Playing in the rain.

Of all the things Eleanor had discovered in Luceti that had been impossible in Rapture, the rain was probably her favorite one. It had taken her some time to adjust to the idea of it, to be fair, since in Rapture the sound of falling water generally meant something horrible had happened and a section of the city about to flood, but up here on the surface it was just...normal.

Weather in-and-of-itself was a new concept, honestly. Occasionally the big storms up on the ocean's surface would cause churn in the water around the city, but never anything more than messy water and unhappy whales. She'd loved the snow too, and bright sunny days and brisk, windy days, but rain was her favorite. Maybe it was just how it was a callback to home without being so close as to make her dwell on the negative things.

Which was why she didn't particularly find any reason to try and avoid it the way so many other people seemed to. In fact, she made a point of going out in weather like that, with the large, old-fashioned purple umbrella she'd acquired last summer. It hadn't rained all winter, which she knew was normal but had still been a bit of a frustration, and now that it was doing it again, she'd practically bolted from school at the end of the day to go for a walk.

And that was where she could be found for the rest of the afternoon, wandering about in her long black skirt and simple red jacket, her umbrella resting on her shoulder, a faint smile on her face. She would stop for a while to sit under one of the awnings by the shops and read, listening to the rain, then head back out for another walk. She'd picked up a pair of heavy-duty boots, and someone might happen to catch her hopping into a puddle with them to send up a splash and then laughing softly to herself.

Even during the height of the thunderstorm itself, she was (probably foolishly) walking around with her umbrella.

[ooc: People can run into Eleanor anywhere in the village during the rain, or yell at her to come in out of the lightning if they like. She might even listen!]

"Not even if I was it's child?"

She can't help but smirk at that. It's technically true, after all.

"If I were the rain's child, do you think it would do what I wanted?" She asks this simply, her tone clear and calm.

Saori lifts a hand and a little cloud appears over it. Her tongue clicks and she eyes the girl. Another flick of her wrist and the rain stops falling on Eleanor, though still continues around them unabated. "Not true at all. Rain is so much more than just falling water."

A tiny lightning bolt streaks out of the cloud, and the wind picks up, swirling around Saori. "And it's my mother, as much as the wind is my father. The reason I'm not wet is because I'm telling it not to. as one of the gods that governs it, the weather is mine to command."

Saori laughed merrily at that and shook her head. "You don't have to believe, because I'm very real, and I'm not going anywhere if you don't. If it helps you understand, think of me as a thunderstorm that's alive. A spirit."

Really, it was always cute when people said things like that.

"Believe what you will, young lady, it changes nothing." Saori waved a hand cheerfully, dismissing the topic and moving on to something else she found interesting. Something about the girl's demeanor, and how she'd been acting about the rain itself. A girl her age splashing around?

"The way you act though, it's like your world doesn't really have much rain. Is that so?"

"Never had weather? Well..." She dismisses the spell around Eleanor, letting the rain come back in full force...though it doesn't seem to interfere with her ability to be heard. "Everyone, everywhere deserves to feel rain. But...how did you live on the sea floor? Were you in a submarine? Or are you not human, yourself?"

The idea of something like an undersea city is just so alien and strange that it doesn't even cross her mind.
windandrain: (Surely you jest)

"A city...in a bottle, in a way?" Saori asks, plainly thinking it over. It's not unthinkable, just...it's fantastic even by her standards. Like something in a storybook.

"Is it really? I can only imagine. It sounds like something from one of Scheherazade's tales, really." She sounds pretty enthusiastic, really. "And you grew up there?"

"Really? Well that sounds exciting in it's own way. No wonder rain is foreign to you." She pauses, looking up at the sky, eyes following a distant lightning strike. "But you know, a mortal like you with an umbrella like that might get shocked badly, if you're not careful."

"Pretty hard to hurt and mortal-generated electricity are one thing," Saori chuckles darkly. "But...a lightning bolt is hot enough to melt stone and has enough electrical energy to kill a full-grown elephant. It's beyond lethal, even if the heat doesn't kill you, the shock might just stop your heart. I wouldn't underestimate natural lightning, young lady."
